Archibald Cox from Wikipedia
During 1979, when a vacancy opened on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit (which includes Cox's home state of Massachusetts), Senator Edward M. Kennedy proposed Cox for the vacancy. This proposal from the senior senator of the state most affected by the choice of judge ordinarily would have won Cox the appointment, but the administration of President Jimmy Carter resisted the choice since Cox had not supported Carter for President, and ultimately Cox was not appointed to the vacancy.
Sorry, no mention of Bork there.

Well Liberals, and morons have lowered the bar.......
"His state political experience consists of nearly three terms in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and three terms in the Massachusetts Senate.[9] Prior to entering the state legislature, he had experience as a town selectman. He is a practicing attorney, concentrating in real estate law[10][11][12] and serving as defense counsel in the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the military.
Brown is a graduate of Wakefield High School (1977), Tufts University (1981), and Boston College Law School (1985).

Not my response.
Scott Brown brought it up in response to a question from Barbara Walters.
Instead of not ruling out a POTUS run in 2012, a smarter answer would have been something like, "Right now my focus is to be the best Senator for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that I can be."
It does sometimes seem that any telegenic rightward leaning pile of cells with a pulse is being mentioned as GOP Presidential material. Tee hee.

personally I thought the whole thing was contrived and childish, but in truth. We do live in a less informed more apathetic nation. Microwave Politics are the norm and the people had been phone it in for years when it came to monitoring their elected officials. It's good now people are starting to wake up, I just hope it's not too late. With the upset in Massachusetts there may still be some hope, of having a government who's fearful of it's people once again.

These funds went to hospitals and medical centers for the uninsured and madicaid participents. Not to fund those covered.

From Wikipedia
Massachusetts also faced pressure from the federal government to make changes to the federal waiver that allows the state to operate an expanded Medicaid program. Under the existing waiver, the state was receiving $385 million in federal funds to reimburse hospitals for services provided to the uninsured. The free care pool had to be restructured so that individuals, rather than institutions, received the funding.[18]
From the Heritage foundation website. Heritage is a conservative organization for the record.
[12] State taxpayers provided 54 percent of Massachusetts’ uncompensated care funds, and federal taxpayers provided the remaining 46 percent. Personal communication with Massachusetts Secretary of Health Timothy Murphy, May 31, 2006.
